The District 29 Presidents’ Council, in partnership with CEC 29, is excited to announce our Districtwide Reading Competition, designed to promote a love of reading across all grade levels. The competition will run from November 17, 2025 through January 5, 2026, giving students plenty of time to enjoy great books—including during Winter Recess!
This year’s competition includes both a Reading Challenge and an optional Oratory Component, allowing students to showcase not only how much they read, but also how well they understand and communicate what they’ve learned.

📚 How to Participate
* Students read books between Nov 17 and Jan 5.
* Keep a reading log of each book read (title, author, pages/chapters).
* Students complete a short reflection (drawing for K–2, paragraph for 3–5, written response for 6–8).
* Submit reading logs and reflections to your teacher or parent coordinator by January 5, 2026.

🏆 Awards & Recognition
Winners will be selected from the following grade groups:
* K–2
* 3–5
* 6–8
1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place winners in each group will be recognized at the
CEC 29 Meeting on February 10, 2026.

🎤 Optional Oratory Competition
Students who wish to participate in the speaking portion of the competition may present a short summary or excerpt from one of their books.

📘 All Reading Formats Welcome
Students may read:
* Physical books
* E-books
* Audiobooks
* Classroom library books
* Decodable texts
All IEP/ELL accommodations will be honored.
