Welcome to The Magnet School for Innovation, Exploration & Engineering!
We are a New York City Magnet School in southeastern Queens serving grades PreK-5. Students here are invited to explore, discover and innovate through hands-on projects that connect science, technology, and engineering to the real world. Our students are our future leaders, educators, doctors, lawyers, scientists, politicians, and entrepreneurs, just to name a few.

Vision
P.S. 52 Magnet School for Innovation, Exploration & Engineering is a community learning school that is dedicated to meeting students where they are and providing a safe, supportive learning environment. It is our priority to expose our students to different experiences and opportunities that foster collaboration and 21st century skills. The community and families will work together as a unit to ensure students reach their highest potential as dynamic leaders.
Instructional Absolutes
In order to ensure the highest quality education P.S. 52 is committed to the following instructional absolutes:
Explicit Instruction: Teachers will clearly explain expectations and make sure students understand the strategies and skills they will use to meet learning objectives.
Engaging Students: Lessons in all content areas will be interactive, differentiated for the needs of each child, and provide appropriate opportunities for student choice.
Data: Teachers will use data to guide instruction and provide students with specific, timely feedback that will help them improve.
Welcoming Environment: Our classrooms will be safe, welcoming spaces where students can work and learn successfully, both independently and together.
Technology and “Maker Space”
Technology is infused throughout all of our learning experiences. We have a 1:1 laptop/tablet program to give every student plenty of access to technology for learning, discovery, and creation. Our classrooms are also equipped with interactive white boards to enhance teaching and learning.
Maker Space
Our “Maker Space” is equipped for creation and innovation of all kinds. Our resources include:
- 3D printers
- Laser cutter
- “Green screen” video production space
- Lego Robotics
- Arts & crafts materials and supplies
Hands-On Learning
Admissions
As a NYC Magnet School, we welcome applications from all students within the New York City DOE. First priority is given to students living within our zoned area. Find your attendance zone and district.
If you are in our attendance zone, you will be automatically assigned to our school unless you apply and are accepted elsewhere. To apply from outside the zone for PreK or Kindergarten enrollment, follow the NYCDOE Kindergarten Enrollment Process.
For out-of-zone enrollment (grades 1-5), visit our office during school hours for a Magnet School application.
